Principal Mechanical Engineer | Fully Remote
We are working with a well-established, multi-disciplinary building services consultancy seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its growing London team.
My client delivers high-quality mechanical, electrical, and public health engineering solutions across prestigious residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong mechanical engineer to take a senior leadership role, managing design delivery from initial concept through to final coordination and installation.
The role:
- You will lead mechanical/HVAC design across live projects, managing engineers and Revit modellers while ensuring technical quality, programme certainty, and client expectations are consistently met.

Key responsibilities:
- Lead and manage engineers and Revit modellers delivering HVAC design solutions.
- Oversee Stage 4 and 5 design, coordination, and technical delivery across multiple projects.
- Develop and manage project plans, ensuring delivery is on programme and within budget.
- Coordinate closely with clients, contractors, architects, and wider design teams.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practice.
- Help drive quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across the mechanical design function.
About you:
- Demonstrable UK mechanical building services engineering experience.
- Strong HVAC design background, ideally across high-end residential, commercial, and/or mixed-use schemes.
- Proven experience of RIBA Stage 4/5 design and coordination.
- Confident leading and developing engineering and BIM/Revit teams.
- Proficient in Revit and relevant mechanical design software.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build credibility with clients and project stakeholders.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, and keen to progress professionally; CEng status or an aspiration to achieve it is welcomed.
- Full right to work in the UK.
