Principal Mechanical Engineer - London
I'm currently working with a well-established built environment consultancy that is looking to bring an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer into their growing London team.
This is a great opportunity for a technically strong engineer who enjoys taking ownership of projects, leading design teams and having a real influence on the direction of projects from concept through to delivery.
The Role
You'll be responsible for leading mechanical design projects across the full project lifecycle, working closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors and other key stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading mechanical design projects from concept through to delivery
- Managing project scope, resources, programme and technical delivery
- Reviewing mechanical calculations, designs and CAD models
- Coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and ensuring technical quality
- Supporting R&D and introducing innovative, sustainable engineering solutions
- Mentoring and developing junior engineers
- Working closely with clients and contractors to deliver practical, compliant solutions
- Ensuring designs meet relevant UK regulations and industry standards

About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Strong mechanical/building services design experience
- Experience within the built environment or consultancy sector
- Strong CAD and mechanical design capabilities
- Project management and team leadership experience
- A relevant Mechanical Engineering degree
- Chartered status or working towards chartership
- Strong knowledge of UK regulations and industry standards
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- A genuine interest in sustainable and innovative engineering
