Principal (m/f/d) — Strategic People & Organization Advisory, Europe

As Principal, you own the answer. You lead complex client engagements end-to-end — from shaping the question with the client to defending the recommendation in the boardroom — and you carry the commercial process alongside Marsh and Oliver Wyman Partners.

What You Will Own

  • End-to-end leadership of client engagements: scoping, workstream design, team leadership, quality of the analysis and delivery, and the final recommendation to senior client executives — measurable, sustainable impact is your definition of done.
  • A real seat at the table: you are the primary day-to-day counterpart for CHROs, transformation leaders, and their teams — building the trusted relationships from which the next mandate comes.
  • Delivery across the people agenda: workforce transformation, organizational transformation and design, HR transformation, and complex talent and rewards mandates — anchored in one area, fluent across all of them.
  • The commercial process, together with Partners: you shape proposals, follow-up on engagements, uncover opportunities and lead pursuits towards success – co-selling to our multinational client base alongside Partners at Marsh and Oliver Wyman.
  • Team leadership and followership: you build and lead high-performing project teams across Europe, and you develop the consultants around you — apprenticeship on live work is how this team grows.
  • Intellectual capital and AI-enabled delivery: you create additive thought leadership, build reusable assets, and treat AI-enabled ways of working as the default -- not the experiment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You Bring

  • Several years (typically 8+) of consulting experience in a dynamic and demanding environment— ideally with a top-tier strategy consulting firm or a leading people advisory practice — with a consistent record of high performance.
  • A track record of selling and leading client engagements end-to-end in fast-paced environments: projects you can point to with tangible client impact, delivered through teams you led.
  • Credibility with senior executives: you have presented to, challenged, and won the confidence of C-level stakeholders.
  • Depth in at least one of our fields — workforce transformation, organizational design and development, HR transformation and HR operating models, talent, or rewards — and genuine curiosity across the rest.
  • Structured, hypothesis-driven problem solving; outstanding written and verbal communication (in English); the craft to turn hundreds of pages of analysis into the one decision the client buys.
  • A mentor's instinct: role model and coach for developing talent, sparring partner for expert colleagues and clients.
  • Willingness for European travel during delivery peaks.
  • A completed university degree (e.g., business, economics, psychology, or a related field); an advanced degree is welcome. Fluent English is required; any further languages are a plus.

What We Offer

  • A founding role. You join at the start and help shape the team's methods, standards, and culture — with visibility to European and global practice leadership from day one.
  • Work that matters, at the top of the house. C-suite exposure on complex, high-stakes people mandates for Europe's most significant organizations.
  • The Oliver Wyman connection. Joint pursuits and engagements with a leading strategy house within the same group — a connection no external alliance can match.
  • A consulting career built to last. The intellectual intensity of top-tier consulting with a more sustainable rhythm — distributed working, European travel during delivery peaks, and a culture that expects excellence without exhaustion.
  • Growth. Structured development (consulting and client-leadership programs), senior mentorship, and a transparent, merit-based progression — the natural preparation for the pathway towards Partner level.
  • Flexibility and security. Mobile and flexible working, modern centrally-located offices, competitive compensation aligned to your market, and the benefits of a strong international group.
  • Culture. DE&I at Marsh is lived practice, not a concept — we want everyone to feel at home here.
