Hangar 13 / 2K is recruiting for the role of Principal Mission Designer. The Principal Mission Designer will own highly complex story missions from early concept through to final polish and release. The role also involves designing mission locations, developing narrative scenarios, scripting complex logic, and working with a multidisciplinary team.

What you’ll do
- Own highly complex story missions from early concept through to final polish and release.
- Design memorable mission locations and develop narrative scenarios.
- Script complex logic using Blueprint and internal tools.
- Work with developers to keep the in-game experience aligned with the project’s tone and creative vision.
- Help define, document and maintain workflows, tools and best practices with the Mission Design Lead and other stakeholders.
- Mentor, onboard and support senior and mid-level designers.

What they’re looking for
- Bring proven design skills in both concept and in-engine work.
- Have deep expertise in creating complex 3D layouts that guide the player and support pacing and emotional engagement.
- Be expert in Blueprint scripting or similar systems and able to diagnose and fix complex technical issues.
- Have strong collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams and multiple global locations.
- Have released multiple high-profile AAA titles in a Senior or Principal Level or Mission Design capacity.
- Bring deep, production-proven experience with Unreal Engine.

Additional role information
- A deep understanding of crafting compelling narratives while maintaining tonal consistency is listed as a plus.
- Strong documentation skills and experience with Wiki systems or Confluence are also a plus.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Game Design or a related discipline is listed as a plus.
- Open World level design experience is also a plus.
