Principal Modern Workplace Consultant

Role Overview:

The Principal Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to senior technology and security leaders, shaping cloud, security, infrastructure and modern workplace strategies and roadmaps. They will lead the architecture and delivery of complex Microsoft-centric transformation programmes, ensuring solutions are secure-by-design, governed, resilient and aligned to regulatory and organisational requirements. Operating across strategy, solution architecture and programme leadership, they will provide technical assurance, guide multidisciplinary teams and translate complex technology choices into clear, commercially grounded recommendations. They will also play a key role in developing our consulting capability, mentoring colleagues and contributing to propositions. This is a hybrid role based in London, Manchester or Sheffield

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to senior technology and security stakeholders, shaping cloud, security, infrastructure and modern workplace strategies and roadmaps.
  • Lead the end-to-end architecture of complex Microsoft-centric transformation programmes, ensuring secure-by-design solutions, robust governance and regulatory alignment.
  • Provide technical assurance and architectural leadership across multiple concurrent engagements, challenging assumptions and driving optimisation, simplification and innovation.
  • Direct and mentor multidisciplinary teams of consultants, architects and engineers, fostering high standards, knowledge sharing and a collaborative, inclusive consulting culture.
  • Lead executive workshops, discovery engagements and strategic assessments, translating complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused recommendations and investment cases.
  • Own key aspects of programme and engagement leadership, including technical delivery approach, risk management, governance, stakeholder communication and quality control.
  • Support business development by shaping solutions and propositions, contributing to bids and SoWs, and identifying opportunities for account growth and cross-practice collaboration.
  • Establish and enhance technology, security and cloud governance frameworks, operating models and controls, particularly in complex and highly regulated client environments.

About the Candidate:

  • Brings 15+ years of technology consulting, architecture or transformation experience, including leading enterprise-scale, Microsoft-centric programmes in complex or regulated environments.
  • Demonstrates deep expertise across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Purview and enterprise infrastructure, with a strong grasp of cloud governance, identity, security and modern workplace.
  • Has a proven track record of shaping technology strategy, operating models, governance frameworks and roadmaps, and taking solutions from concept through to successful implementation and adoption.
  • Excels in executive stakeholder engagement, with clear, confident communication and the ability to translate complex technical issues into pragmatic, business-focused recommendations.
  • Shows strong consulting and leadership skills, including programme and engagement leadership, technical assurance, workshop facilitation, service design and operational readiness.
  • Displays credible, inclusive leadership, mentoring and developing consultants and architects, raising technical and consulting standards and fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture.
  • Is willing and able to undergo UK security screening for relevant client engagements, with existing UK Security Clearance considered advantageous.
  • Operates with high levels of ownership, commercial awareness, resilience and adaptability, balancing client outcomes, delivery risk, technical quality and commercial performance.
