Our IT Managed Services business enables customers to innovate, transform, and seize new opportunities. The Professional Services function delivers structured, outcome-driven technical engagements that help customers design, implement, and optimise modern workplace platforms.

The Principal Modern Workplace Consultant plays a leading role in architecting, implementing, and governing Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions across our customer environments. You will support consistent, standardised service delivery, embed automation and configuration control, and provide thought leadership that ensures our services remain secure, scalable, and aligned to best practice.

This is a customer-facing role requiring technical depth, clear communication, and a strong understanding of ITIL v4-aligned service management.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and implement complex Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace projects, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Intune, Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Purview, Entra ID, and Microsoft Defender.
  • Design and implement automation frameworks to manage Microsoft 365 configuration and compliance using Infrastructure as Code principles. Maintain version-controlled, auditable templates for consistent deployments.
  • Define and maintain configuration baselines, policy standards, and technical documentation for Microsoft 365 services.
  • Ensure customer environments align with relevant security and operational standards, including ISO 27001, 9001, CIS, and Cyber Essentials Plus.
  • Mentor and guide junior consultants and engineers, encouraging upskilling, knowledge sharing, and operational readiness.
  • Author technical documentation for new solutions and changes, tailored to specific audiences and structured to ensure long-term supportability.
  • Participate in design reviews and peer governance for proposed Modern Workplace architectures.
  • Actively contribute to service improvement initiatives, including optimisation of monitoring, patching, and configuration governance.

What You Will Have

  • Proven experience architecting, implementing, and supporting Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions in a managed service or large enterprise environment.
  • Outstanding communication skills, able to articulate complex concepts clearly across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Intune, Configuration Manager, Microsoft 365, and Entra services.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting skills and experience automating Microsoft 365 workloads.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API for building and managing configuration programmatically.
  • Experience producing and maintaining infrastructure, support, and procedural documentation.
  • Ability to lead and contribute to technical design documentation including functional specs and service handover materials.
  • Understanding of Incident, Problem and Change Management within the ITIL framework.
  • Capability to informally project manage workloads, applying structured delivery methods and meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated mentoring and technical coaching skills.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
