Role Summary
As the Principal of Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering, within the Global Technology Engineering & Operations organization, you will lead the team responsible for designing, developing, and deploying cloud-based infrastructure and automation to meet the organization's evolving needs.
Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering is a globally distributed team. Working with your team leaders, you will be both a hands-on technical leader, and responsible and accountable for people leadership processes, performance management, and personal development of your direct reports and the wider team.
You will apply your hands-on engineering expertise with enterprise cloud infrastructure to oversee the architecture, development, and governance of constantly evolving Cloud platforms.
You will ensure that all Cloud infrastructure is sustainable, reliable, resilient, expandable, and optimized for costs, manageability, and operability.
- Lead the team in defining and maintaining automation platforms and deployment patterns.
- Your leadership will promote best practices and continuous improvement, shape the organization’s technology landscape, and drive operational excellence.

- Solve complex problems that have a broad impact on the business or organization function.
- Contribute to the Global Technology strategy and provide expert advice on the use of and direction of Cloud technology.
- You will be accountable for the Cloud Architecture & Governance processes.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include addressing complex technical issues, overseeing installations, and assessing emerging technologies like multi-cloud strategies, development, and maintenance of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation for Cloud systems.
Technical Leadership
- Take ownership of the firm’s most ambitious and complex technical initiatives, ensuring successful execution from conception to completion.
- Lead cross-functional efforts to enable teams to adopt standard methodologies to integrate new Cloud technology effectively.
- Serve as a representative of the Cloud community in both internal and cross-organizational forums, acting as a subject matter expert.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and proactively identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies that benefit the firm.
- Act as a hands-on technologist, taking point on resolving complex technical challenges, and troubleshooting critical issues and incidents as they arise.
- Align your team’s book of work to realize the Global Technology (GT) strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging technical and business acumen to identify root causes, address business problems, and implement data-driven solutions.
- As a leader use your knowledge of IAM and security systems to ensure integrations best practices are applied in the SDLC.

People and Organizational Leadership
- Build and maintain a broad network of peers in technology and business functions and ensure that the Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering team is represented and visible across the firm.
- Represent Cloud Infrastructure and Engineering in key firm-wide committees and forums such as the Architecture Council and Cloud Expert Group.
- Use your influence and leadership across the organization at all levels to amplify impact and drive delivery across the global organization.
- Apply your expert knowledge of diverse infrastructure & components to inform decisions on system upgrades, refresh cycles, and strategic replacements.
- Demonstrate structured decision-making, even when faced with limited information or resources.
- Mentor and coach team members, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Offer feedback and support to others with management responsibilities, fostering a collaborative leadership environment.
- Oversee the recruitment, development, and performance management of associates within the team.

Business Knowledge
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of products/flows across the asset management industry.
- Provide insight and perspective to help shape organizational strategies.
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years of operating in a technical leadership capacity, and proven track record of leading and managing geographically distributed teams.
- Demonstrated expertise in infrastructure components and their integration across on-premises environments and cloud service providers.
- Hands-on current experience with Cloud security, reliability, and integration best practices and industry trends in AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and technologies and know when/if/how to apply them.
- Fluency with current IAC technologies including Terraform and CloudFormation, and experience with relevant technologies like Ansible, Python, Java, and Groovy are an advantage.
- Extensive experience managing Cloud Infrastructures on AWS and Azure, with exposure to GCP and other Cloud platform providers.
- Experience integrating SaaS and Vendor solutions with a cross-cloud environment.
- Consider the operational aspects of a system, long-term supportability, maintenance, etc.
- Apply technical skills and business knowledge to set standards for Global Technology.
- Solid understanding of requirements of the modern developer community.
- Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code, automated configuration for large scale infrastructure deployments, infrastructure/software design for High Availability and Resilience at scale.
- In-depth knowledge of modern monitoring and alerting solutions for complex systems spanning on-premises and cloud.
