Main Duties of the Job
- To develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within haematology areas across the Trust.
- To share the day-to-day running of pharmacy clinical services to the haematology areas at Frimley Health Foundation Trust (FHFT).
- To support the training and development of pharmacist independent prescribers.
- To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
- The recruitment, management, and development of staff under the postholder.
- To become competent in completing tasks relating to the maintenance of the Pharmaceutical Quality Management System for aseptic services.
- To provide resilience to the aseptic team, especially the Preparative Services Pharmacy Manager in understanding GMP principles and Annex 1.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To support the Preparative Services Pharmacy Manager with the day-to-day running of the pharmacy services to the haematology and aseptic teams across FHFT - this will include at least two days a week at each site.
- To ensure close relations with the pharmacy haematology and oncology team across all sites.
- To work closely with the Preparative Services Pharmacy Manager, clinicians, Principal Pharmacists and senior managers, to develop pharmaceutical services to haematology and aseptics across the Trust at all sites.
- To promote and develop the use of Independent Prescribing by pharmacists in the delivery of care across the Trust.
- To fulfil the role of an Independent Prescribing Pharmacist within the individual’s area of competence, including medicines reconciliation on admission and prescribing of currently prescribed medicines on discharge.
- To share in the management of delivering the clinical pharmacy service to haematology.
- To ensure the service is according to departmental procedures and meets the minimum standards agreed with the Preparative Services Pharmacy Manager. The service provided will take current legislation into account, including GMP and Annex 1.
- To provide strategic clinical pharmacy input into medication error reduction processes within the Trust.
- To liaise closely with the Clinical Pharmacy Manager and Preparative Services Pharmacy Manager to ensure appropriate actions are taken to comply with Patient Safety Alerts, National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE), or successor organisations, guidance and Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessments.
- To help develop and promote suitable shared care arrangements for medicines between hospital and primary care by providing relevant information to patients and healthcare workers, leading for the specialty.
- To share in leading the haematology department in supporting the delivery of services to outpatients within the specialty, whether in clinics, day units or homecare.
- To take an active role in committees relating to specialist area- e.g. clinical governance.

Person Specification
Special Requirements
Essential criteria
- Able to work at weekends and to participate in Bank Holiday working
Desirable criteria
- Ability to be able to travel between sites
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered with GPhC
- Postgraduate clinical diploma or equivalent
- Registered Independent Prescriber
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
- Pharmacy degree (master’s level, 4 years)
- Formal leadership and management qualification
Desirable criteria
- Member of Royal College of Pharmacy
- Member of BOPA
Specific Competencies
Essential criteria
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability and confidence to communicate with a wide range of customers, from patient to hospital consultant, including presentation skills
- Ability to compile reports/cases where data is presented effectively based on evidence-based information
- Analytical skills
- Ability to recognise areas for development of current practice
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines

Professional/ Specialist/ Functional Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post-registration hospital experience including extensive experience of working as a clinical practitioner in an acute hospital setting
- Experience in delivering professional training and education
- Experience of staff management and giving staff developmental feedback
- Leadership experience within a pharmacy service, including organising a service on a day-to-day basis
- Experience of working in committees and multidisciplinary groups including guideline review & creation
- Experience in the provision of clinical pharmacy to haematology services
- Experience of change management
