Core Responsibilities

To sustainably grow WSP, we seek an experienced Senior Consultant to:

  • Lead the preparation of Town & Country Planning Act (1990) applications across the UK.
  • Support and lead consenting inputs for major infrastructure projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Development Management Statements (DNSs), Town & Country Works Act Order (TWAO) processes.
  • Provide technical advice to clients while managing their consenting requirements with awareness of expectations and value.
  • Engage with statutory bodies, stakeholders, and partners to help deliver projects.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and provide technical oversight.
  • Foster teamwork, encourage best practices, and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing.
  • Identify work-winning opportunities and teachable moments aligned with WSP’s growth strategy.
  • Support project finances with consultancy experience.

Requirements

  • Degree level qualification in town planning (or equivalent).
  • Member of – or eligible for – the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Demonstrated experience securing consent via following Acts:
    • Town and Country Planning Act 1990
    • Planning Act 2008
    • Transport and Works Act (Network Rail, etc.)
    • (Wales, Scotland, or Electricity Act preferred)
