As a Principal Process Engineer within our Business Winning, you’ll play a central role in shaping the technical solutions and engineering excellence that help us secure the projects powering the UK’s clean-energy, defence and decommissioning future. You’ll lead multidisciplinary engineering inputs that strengthen our bids, influence high-value programmes, and contribute directly to work that protects national capability.
The Role
As a Principal Process Engineer, you will provide process engineering leadership across complex bids and early-stage project definition within our Business Winning team.
This is a full-time role based at one of our main sites: Warrington (Cheshire), Preston (Lancashire), Leicester (Leicestershire), Newbury (Berkshire), or Bristol with travel to other Cavendish Nuclear and customer locations as required. Hybrid working arrangements are available.

Day-to-day you’ll be required to:
- Lead the process engineering elements of bids.
- Develop and deliver engineering scope, schedules, and resource plans.
- Ensure technical integrity, compliance, and quality.
- Produce and review technical reports and verification plans.
- Promote engineering best practice and mentor others.
Essential experience of the Principal Process Engineer:
- Significant demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience managing teams delivering technical activities.
- Ability to interface with multiple disciplines and stakeholders.
- Strong communication and influencing skills.
Qualifications for the Principal Process Engineer:
Essential:
- Engineering degree (or equivalent) with significant experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. Many of the positions within our company are subject to national security clearance and Trade Control restrictions.
