The Opportunity

Stantec is expanding its Clean Water Process Engineering capability across the North West, with exciting opportunities to support the significant investment taking place across the region. Based in Manchester or Warrington, you’ll join an established Water team delivering projects that are helping to improve the reliability, efficiency and performance of water infrastructure.

With a strong relationship with United Utilities, our regional teams are involved in a diverse range of work across water treatment and supply. We’re looking for a Principal Process Engineer who wants to take ownership of technically challenging projects, work directly with clients and play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

This is an opportunity to build your profile within a growing team, take on increasing technical responsibility and contribute to projects that have a tangible impact on communities across the North West.

About The Role

You’ll take responsibility for process engineering delivery on Clean Water projects, working across the project lifecycle from optioneering and feasibility through to design and implementation.

Your role will include:

  • Developing process solutions
  • Undertaking design calculations
  • Preparing technical documentation
  • Reviewing deliverables to ensure they meet project requirements

You’ll coordinate closely with civil, mechanical, electrical and other engineering disciplines, helping to resolve technical challenges and keep projects moving forward.

You’ll also have regular interaction with clients, contractors and project managers, giving you the opportunity to build strong professional relationships and develop your understanding of the wider commercial and project environment. Supporting and mentoring developing engineers will also be an important part of your role.

YOUR IMPACT

You’ll help turn strategic investment into practical engineering solutions that improve the performance and resilience of water infrastructure across the North West.

Your technical judgement will influence how projects are developed and delivered, from selecting appropriate treatment processes and developing design solutions through to supporting construction and commissioning. By taking ownership of your technical work and collaborating effectively across disciplines, you’ll help ensure projects deliver the outcomes our clients and their customers need.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
