The team comprises managers, senior engineers, engineers, and designers that have direct experience of construction projects and operating facilities, as well as exceptional engineering expertise.

The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer.
The Principal Process Engineer will provide senior technical leadership and process engineering assurance for minor modifications and projects, ensuring compliance with legal obligations, applicable standards, and client requirements. In addition, the role will lead and deliver complex process engineering scopes, support the development of proposals for new business opportunities, and provide specialist consultancy services.
You’ll be supported with personalized on-the-job training, coaching, mentoring, and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain and develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities
- Comply with UK legislation, Company Rules, procedures, and instructions, and lead appropriate procedural and system improvements.
- Provide authoritative process engineering expertise across specification, design, procurement support, installation, commissioning, and operational support.
- Lead discipline design assurance and technical governance, ensuring work is appropriately checked, reviewed, and approved in accordance with delegated authority.
- Produce, review, and approve, within delegated authority, process engineering deliverables and ensure technical consistency across discipline interfaces.
- Act as the senior technical focal point for complex process engineering issues, providing clear direction and resolving technical risk.
- Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required, supporting discipline priorities, resource decisions, and the escalation of technical matters.
- Make sound, evidence-based decisions on technical issues, safety, cost, and schedule with minimal supervision, escalating where authority limits are reached.
- Lead technical input to Business Winning, including capability presentations, execution strategies, scopes of work, and cost estimates.

Minimum Requirements
- Degree qualified in process or chemical engineering, or equivalent (Chartered Engineer status is preferred).
- Extensive process engineering design experience across the full project life cycle, including concept/Pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design/EPC, commissioning, and operational support, within chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, power, or other process industries.
- Proven experience leading complex process engineering scopes and providing technical direction to multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong working knowledge of process design methods and deliverables, including process simulation, heat and material balances, PFDs, P&IDs, equipment and control philosophies, datasheets, hydraulics, and relief-system design.
- Experience leading and contributing to process safety and design reviews, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL assessment, and management of technical change.
- Experience across the procurement life cycle, including specifications, requisitions, bid evaluations, vendor review, and post-order support.
- Demonstrable expertise in design assurance, checking and approval, competence management, quality systems, applicable legislation, and relevant engineering standards.
- Strong report-writing, stakeholder-management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain and defend complex technical decisions.
