About the Role

Nexperia is seeking an experienced Principal Modelling Engineer to join our Device Modelling team in Manchester.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and advancing semiconductor device models for next-generation power semiconductor technologies. You will work closely with Device Engineering, Technology Development, Design, Characterization and Reliability teams to improve the understanding, prediction and optimization of device performance.

The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in semiconductor device physics, compact model development, parameter extraction methodologies and system simulation. This position focuses on enabling accurate device representation and performance prediction across a wide range of power semiconductor technologies.

What You Will Do

  • Develop and maintain advanced semiconductor device models for power MOSFET and emerging power semiconductor technologies.
  • Build compact device models using silicon characterization and simulation data.
  • Perform device simulations to understand electrical, thermal and reliability behaviour.
  • Drive model calibration, validation and correlation against measured silicon data.
  • Collaborate with technology development teams to support new process generations and device architectures.
  • Analyse device performance, switching behaviour and loss mechanisms.
  • Support Design Enablement activities through accurate modelling methodologies.
  • Contribute to the development of modelling flows, automation frameworks and best practices.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
