Principal RF Engineer

UK - Remote

We are proud to be supporting a fast-growing technology company at the forefront of satellite and cloud infrastructure in their search for a Principal RF Engineer. Due to the sensitive nature of this engagement, the client's name will be shared with candidates at the shortlisting stage.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the mathematical and algorithmic foundations behind one of the few operational commercial space-based RF geolocation systems currently in active use.

  • Working with real satellite data from a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites, you will develop, validate and continually improve the algorithms used to locate RF emitters using Time Difference of Arrival, Frequency Difference of Arrival, and Angle of Arrival measurements.

This is not a pure research position. You'll be working on a production system delivering real-world results to customers, analysing performance, identifying sources of error, refining estimation algorithms and validating improvements using real operational data.

You'll collaborate closely with software engineers responsible for production implementation while owning the scientific and algorithmic direction of the platform.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

RF Geolocation Algorithms

  • Own and improve TDOA, FDOA and AoA estimation algorithms
  • Develop mathematical models from first principles through to validated software prototypes
  • Evaluate algorithm performance using real operational satellite data
  • Identify systematic errors and continually improve geolocation accuracy

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
