Principal Rail Engineer (Track)

Location: London or Birmingham, UK
Discipline: Rail Infrastructure (Track Design)
Work Model: Hybrid
Seniority Level: Principal
Employment Type: Full Time

Lead the Tracks That Move a Nation

At Ayesa, we don’t just design transportation networks—we shape the future of mobility. As we expand our rail capabilities in the UK, we’re seeking a Principal Rail Engineer (Track) with deep expertise in track design, rail systems integration, and infrastructure delivery to help drive high-profile rail projects forward.

This is more than a technical leadership role—it’s a chance to engineer lasting change across the UK rail sector, with the backing of an internationally respected infrastructure and technology consultancy.

What You’ll Be Doing

Rail Design Leadership

  • Lead the design of permanent way solutions, alignments, and associated infrastructure
  • Ensure designs adhere to UK railway standards (e.g., Network Rail, HS2, AREMA, UIC) and project-specific technical requirements

Design Assurance & Oversight

  • Oversee technical design work—track layouts, calculations, and drawings
  • Review and approve specifications and ensure compliance with industry and safety standards

Project & Proposal Management

  • Lead design input for proposals and feasibility studies
  • Attend kick-off meetings and manage deliverables from concept to completion
  • Coordinate across disciplines—civil, electrification, signalling, and structural teams

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
