Your new role

Principal RAMS & System Assurance Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced RAMS professional to join Hitachi Rail as a Principal RAMS & System Assurance Manager.

This is a leadership position responsible for driving RAMS Assurance activities across our Mainline and Light Rail portfolio of UK rail projects, products and services. You will play a critical role in ensuring our solutions are safe, reliable and compliant throughout the project lifecycle, while leading and developing a team of highly skilled RAMS and Assurance engineers.

Working closely with our Hitachi partners across the world, customers and project teams, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Hitachi Rail. Projects include ETCS OnBoard and Wayside applications, Tramways and HS2.

Leadership and RAMS Project / Bid Delivery

  • Lead the development and maintenance of Safety Cases, RAMS Management Plans, RAMS analyses and Assurance approvals to support successful project delivery
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to RAMS and Assurance professionals.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the RAMS across Hitachi Rail in the UK.
  • Support recruitment, succession planning and capability development within the function.
  • Support bid activities by defining RAMS strategies, resource requirements and delivery plans.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with customers, industry partners and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Represent Hitachi Rail at customer meetings and industry forums where required.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential experience and knowledge

  • Significant experience in Technical Safety and Systems Assurance within the rail sector or another safety-critical industry.
  • Proven experience managing technical teams and leading multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Desirable experience

  • Experience with UK mainline signalling, control, communications or information systems.
  • Experience leading railway Interoperable projects, especially CCS.
