Principal Recruitment Consultant

Commercial Recruitment | Private Equity

London Permanent Division | Joss Search

Join the team that started it all. London Permanent is where the Joss story began.

For almost two decades, our flagship team has built relationships with some of London's most respected private equity and alternative investment firms, becoming the market leader for business support recruitment within the sector. Now we're looking for an experienced recruiter to help shape the next chapter.

This isn't a desk that's been handed down through multiple consultants. It's an opportunity to take ownership of a carefully mapped portfolio of boutique private equity and alternative investment firms, uncovering significant untapped potential and building something genuinely special.

Why Joss Search?

We're an employee-owned business that puts culture, people and performance at the heart of everything we do. Our values aren't words on a wall. They shape how we work together, how we support one another and how we serve our clients and candidates.

You'll join a business known for:

  • Consistent growth, even through challenging market conditions
  • Industry-leading training and career development
  • Clear progression opportunities
  • A collaborative, supportive and high-performing culture
  • Transparent leadership and open communication
  • Personal development plans for every employee
  • Regular employee listening surveys that genuinely influence change
  • Exceptionally high employee engagement, with scores consistently exceeding 70 (well above the best in class benchmarks)

The Perks

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

  • Employee-owned business with all the upsides of an EOT model.
  • Hybrid working with 3 days per week in our Waterloo office overlooking the London skyline.
  • £50 monthly wellbeing allowance to spend on whatever supports you, whether that's a gym membership, a haircut, wellness treatments or something entirely personal to you.
  • Excellent benefits package.

The Opportunity

We've identified a portfolio of approximately 200 boutique private equity and alternative investment firms across London. Some are longstanding clients who trust us year after year. Some are previous clients where relationships are ready to be reignited. Many are firms we've identified as ideal prospects but haven't yet engaged with, or engaged with consistently.

These businesses are often overlooked because larger clients naturally command more consistent attention. Yet collectively they represent an enormous commercial opportunity. We're looking for someone to take ownership of this market.

You'll have access to warm relationships, established market credibility and the backing of one of the strongest brands in the sector. However, make no mistake: this is a build.

Success will come from developing relationships, creating opportunities, winning trust and becoming the go-to recruitment partner for this community.

For the right person, the long-term potential is significant, including future leadership and management responsibilities.

What Success Looks Like

  • Building meaningful relationships across a broad portfolio of boutique investment firms
  • Growing existing accounts while developing new business opportunities
  • Becoming a trusted adviser to hiring managers and business leaders
  • Delivering exceptional candidate and client experiences
  • Contributing to a high-performing team that values collaboration over internal competition
  • Building a sustainable, high-value desk with substantial growth potential

  • Experience running a permanent recruitment desk
  • A track record of winning and growing client accounts
  • Excellent networking and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to balance multiple relationships across a broad client base

Why This Role?

Because opportunities like this are rare. A mapped market. An established brand. A high-performing team. Genuine growth potential. Leadership opportunities ahead.

Most importantly, the chance to build something with real ownership and purpose.

If the thought of owning and growing a portfolio of boutique investment firms excites you, energizes you and immediately gets your ideas flowing, we'd love to talk.
