Are you an experienced Power Electronics Engineer looking for an opportunity to shape next-generation electrification technology whilst developing into a future engineering leader?
At Advanced Electric Machines (AEM), you'll play a key role in developing industry-leading rare earth-free electric motor drive systems that are helping to transform the future of sustainable transport and industrial electrification.
About the Role...
Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, you'll provide technical expertise across the power electronics, motor drives and electrified powertrain systems department, supporting the development and delivery of innovative products for customers worldwide.
As a Principal / Senior Power Electronics Engineer, you'll be recognised as a technical specialist within the business, ultimately aiming to lead the development of current and future power electronic drive systems whilst working closely with colleagues across Engineering, Manufacturing, Programme Management, Test and Commercial teams.
This role offers a genuine opportunity to develop into a future leadership position. As AEM continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to mentor engineers, support capability development and play an active role in shaping the future of the Power Electronics function. For the right individual, there is a clear career pathway, allowing you to combine technical excellence with team leadership as the business expands.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing product direction and helping to develop both technology and people.

What Will You Do...
- Lead the technical development of power electronics systems for current and next-generation AEM products.
- Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise across power electronics, motor drives and electrified powertrain systems.
- Support the successful delivery of engineering projects, ensuring technical milestones and customer requirements are achieved.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop robust, manufacturable and cost-effective solutions.
- Review and refine engineering requirements, specifications and design outputs.
- Support product verification, validation and testing activities, including analysis of test data and reporting of results.
- Build effective relationships with customers, suppliers and external partners, acting as a key technical contact.
- Mentor and coach engineers, supporting capability development across the business.
- Support future team growth through knowledge sharing, succession planning and technical leadership.
- Drive innovation and contribute to future product roadmap activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and sustainability across products and processes.
What Are We Looking For...
Experience Required:
- Significant industrial experience in power electronics development within automotive, electric vehicle, motorsport, aerospace, rail, industrial drive systems or similar sectors.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of power electronics, electrical machines and drive systems.
- Experience developing products from concept through to production.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience supporting customer-facing projects and managing technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams and influence engineering decisions.
- Experience mentoring, coaching or supporting the development of engineers would be highly advantageous.

Education / Qualifications Required:
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous.
- Evidence of continued professional development within power electronics, electrification or related technologies.
