Principal SME – Network Access Control

📍Sheffield Or Birmingham (2 days a week)

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Principal SME – NAC to join their Cybersecurity Technology & Engineering function. This is a hands-off, subject-matter-expert role focused on Network Access Control strategy, standards, and thought leadership — shaping how the business defends against network-based threats.

What you'll do:

  • Define NAC strategy, standards, and roadmap
  • Provide SME consultancy on network access control products and best practices
  • Design controls, define metrics, and manage the control backlog
  • Support regulatory engagement and evidence management
  • Advise on Business/IT projects to ensure network security requirements are met
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams and senior stakeholders across Risk, Connectivity, and Architecture

What you'll bring:

  • Deep understanding of network access control technologies, network security threats/risks
  • Solid grounding in network design, firewalls, load balancing, and segmentation
  • Strong communication skills and comfort influencing without formal authority
  • Ability to lead complex engagements independently
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment preferred
  • Desirable: CISSP/CISA/CISM/CCNA/CCIE, scripting (Python/Perl), cloud security familiarity
