The role: Principal Software Architect

Contract
Permanent / Full-time
Salary
£80k to £100k basic (DOE) + 10% bonus, 10% share options + benefits
Location
London, Hybrid: 1 to 2 days per month in office
Please note: Candidate relocation / visa sponsorship is not available. UK Security Clearance eligibility is required. British Passport or ILR, 5 years UK residency, clean financial record.
About you
- Deep, hands-on experience applying Domain Driven Design (DDD) on real, complex systems, strategic and tactical patterns, not just theory
- Experience leading domain discovery with business stakeholders: Event Storming, domain storytelling, or similar
- Strong architectural judgement: you've owned and driven solution design end-to-end, not just contributed to it
- Proven delivery of microservice based architectures where service boundaries are derived from the domain
- Strong full stack development skills: Java / Spring Boot core, TypeScript / React alongside it
- Confident communicating and defending architectural decisions at senior stakeholder level: ADRs, C4, or similar
- Experience mentoring engineers and growing DDD and architectural thinking across a team
- Consulting mindset: you translate business problems into practical technical solutions
- Exposure to AI-assisted development practices
