A technology consultancy is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer. This company is at the forefront of digital transformation, delivering innovative solutions to complex technical challenges for a diverse client base.
The Role
- Drive architecture ownership across multiple services and provide technical leadership across teams.
- Directly contribute to engineering standards and best practices, as well as talent acquisition.
- Write high-quality code, balancing hands-on development with strategic direction.
- Collaborate on a Java/Spring Boot microservices platform on AWS EKS with a Next.js frontend and Camunda orchestration.
- Occasional travel to London for client work (approx. once a month) with expenses paid.
- UK SC Security Clearance required; must be a UK National who has resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

What You'll Need
- Minimum 10+ years of experience at a principal or staff-grade equivalent level.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java 17 or 21, leveraging modern language features.
- In-depth knowledge of Spring Boot, including security, transaction management, and asynchronous/reactive programming.
- Proven experience designing microservices architectures from the ground up.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker in production environments.
- Practical expertise in AWS services such as EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, and EventBridge.
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and a strong discipline in automated testing (JUnit, Mockito, integration testing, TDD/BDD).
- Lead or tech lead experience in React frontend development, understanding FFE/BFE separation.
