Job Title: Locum Principal Lawyer
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are currently recruiting for a locum Principal Lawyer to join their Prosecutions team for an initial 3-6 months, with likelihood of extension.
Role Overview:
The role offers hybrid working, with attendance required at court as needed. They can offer up to £75 per hour via an Umbrella company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice, guidance, and practical assistance to the Local Authority on a wide range of criminal matters
- Prepare cases for court and liaise with the relevant clients from various departments within the local authority who had referred matters to the litigation department
- Deal with the full advocacy of cases, prosecuting matters on behalf of the Council on a regular basis
- Instruct and work with external Barristers/Counsel on various matters due to be heard at Court
- Prepare briefs for Counsel, agreed fees with chambers, obtained written advice from Counsel, and liaised with them on matters due for court

Working Hours:
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday
