Principal AI Architect – Contract
📍 London – 3 days onsite
⏳ 6-month initial contract - Outside IR35
🚀 ASAP / September start
I’m looking for a Principal AI Architect to join a major enterprise AI transformation programme for an Investment Management company.
This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who thrives in complex and ambiguous environments who's able to quickly understand the landscape, define the technical direction and lead both the client and engineering team through delivery.
🔑 The Role
- Own architecture across enterprise GenAI & Agentic AI solutions
- Take AI initiatives from early-stage discovery through to production
- Turn ambiguous business and technical challenges into clear architecture and delivery plans
- Lead and provide technical direction to a small team of engineers
- Work directly with senior and C-level client stakeholders
- Remain close to the engineering and confidently challenge technical decisions
- Work across the wider ecosystem of AI, cloud, data, platforms and integration

🎯 What We’re Looking For
- Principal / Staff+ level AI Architect / Engineer
- Strong GenAI / LLM architecture and production delivery experience
- Experience across Agentic AI, RAG, orchestration and tool use
- Broad cloud, data and platform architecture knowledge
- Strong hands-on engineering foundations
- Experience leading senior engineering teams
- Excellent consulting and stakeholder management skills
- Comfortable being dropped into an undefined problem and taking ownership
