Do you have the drive and expertise to support a dedicated team in delivering high-quality services? If so, we have an exciting secondment opportunity for you to join us, initially until 31 March 2027, as a Principal Sport & Leisure Officer.
As Principal Sport & Leisure Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the Sport & Leisure Manager in the strategic development and management of sport and leisure services across West Berkshire. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to enhance the provision of sport and leisure activities for residents of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation of the Leisure strategy, promoting active and healthy lifestyles within the community
- Work closely with partners to deliver sport and leisure projects, including identifying funding opportunities and securing investment
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of services, using data to inform future decision-making
- Support our key partnerships through the Joint Advisory Committees and contract monitoring meetings.
To Excel In This Role, You Should Have
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to think creatively and drive innovation
- Experience in the sport and leisure sector is helpful but not essential for this secondment
- An ability to work as part of a small team, with flexibility to support emerging priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- An ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders

You will also be entitled to a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 29 days per annum (plus public holidays) - pro rata. Rising by an additional 5 days after 5 years’ service.
