  • Define the strategic roadmap for stress engineering capability in the UK
  • Maintain and improve processes, methods, and quality frameworks
  • Monitor workload, skills gaps, and training needs
  • Lead upskilling, coaching, and training initiatives

Team Growth, Recruitment & Retention

  • Work with leadership to forecast demand and plan workforce needs
  • Support recruitment and selection of stress engineers
  • Drive retention through mentoring and development

Sales, Bidding & Business Development

  • Support sales and business development activities
  • Contribute to bids, proposals, and client presentations
  • Represent stress capability in strategic planning and major pursuits

Internal & External Leadership

  • Act as a visible technical leader and ambassador
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, partners, and industry bodies

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Build and lead high-performing teams
  • Deliver and review high-quality stress and structural integrity assessments
  • Mentor junior engineers and act as a senior technical authority
  • Work directly with clients on complex challenges
  • Demonstrate advanced FEA capability (strength, fatigue, defects, lifetime)
  • Apply codes such as ASME III/VIII, API-579, BS7910, BS7608, R4/R5/R6

(Desirable) Experience in CFD, dynamics, fatigue, and degradation

  • Have experience in nuclear or another highly regulated sector
