The Vacancy
We are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at LDE, an RSK Group company. This is a full-time and permanent position in Exeter.
Formed in 2003, RSK LDE provides a complete engineering design service for residential and commercial development projects, both pre and post-planning. It now has a highly experienced team made up of professional civil and structural engineering staff with many years’ experience in the assessment, design, and construction of major development projects.
We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer who has recently chartered or is nearing chartership. This is an ideal role for someone who is wanting to take the next step in their career by working on designated projects, undertaking site surveys, and structural inspections to ensure design integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver structural designs across multiple projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective delivery and adherence to agreed engineering strategies.
- Undertake site surveys and structural inspections to verify design integrity and compliance with relevant standards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, design codes, and industry standards.
- Support scheme design and value engineering activities, working with the design team to identify the most effective solutions for client requirements.
- Coordinate programme, communication, and multidisciplinary involvement to ensure successful project delivery.
- Continually develop technical and management expertise through CPD and regular attendance at internal and external training events.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree or HNC qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering, with progress towards Chartered status (ICE or IStructE).
- Experience designing reinforced concrete, steelwork, and load-bearing masonry structures, with understanding of the full engineering and development process.
- Proficient in the use of Revit and/or AutoCAD, with experience producing technical drawings in accordance with industry standards and procedures.
- Working knowledge of structural analysis and design software, including 2D/3D finite element modelling packages.
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, and CDM Regulations 2015, including Designer responsibilities.
- Strong project management and coordination skills, with the ability to apply company procedures and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.
