Raytheon UK has an excellent opportunity for a Principal Subcontracts Specialist to join our team in Gloucester.
This is an exciting opportunity for a SCM & Subcontracts specialist to drive execution and innovative commercial solutions across existing and new business requirements in Cyber & Intelligence and Space & ISR. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Contracts & Subcontracts, you will influence mission-critical outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams at the forefront of national security.
Our teams here provide DevSecOps at scale, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, cyber and geospatial intelligence capabilities to support the defence, intelligence and cyber sectors. Collaborating with customers and suppliers to deliver secure, mission critical systems using the latest technologies and innovations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage Subcontractors / Suppliers with moderately sized contracts with autonomy and accountability for delivery, ensuring quality and consistency in execution and alignment with business objectives.
- Responsible for early subcontractor identification and engagement to support new business pursuits and provide risk and opportunity analysis for early capture
- Participating in development of supplier Statements of Work (SOW)
- Management and negotiation of contracts, non-disclosure agreements and terms and conditions.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers, to align on policies, practices, and procedures.
- Manage all costs, quality, schedule, financial and technical performance requirements that are levied on the subcontractor or the product family and is required to ensure performance and support of the contract milestones of the system
- Works with suppliers and other stakeholders to achieve collaborative partnering and strategic relationship management to deliver value for the organisation
- Apply advanced knowledge of subcontracting practices to evaluate challenges faced by the programme(s)/organisation and the supply chains, taking action to mitigate risks and develop opportunities, as well as solving complex problems across multiple work areas.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience negotiating commercial and subcontract agreements in Defence or Cyber sectors.
- Degree in business or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong communicator with a proactive, adaptable mindset.
- Financial acumen with the ability to translate programme data into actionable insights.
- Track record of driving performance and solving complex problems.
- Skilled in managing supplier and subcontractor relationships.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Focused on outcomes, delivery, and operational excellence.
- Exposure to international suppliers and collaborative delivery models.
- Knowledge of Teaming Agreements and strategic partnerships.

Raytheon UK has a new opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our team.
As Commercial Manager, you will lead in respect to commercial and execution management strategies and responses to customer Requests for Proposal. You will be responsible for and directs all phases of the contract from initiation of the business case for go/no go decisions through requests for proposals, commercial management plans, negotiation strategy, cost accountability, programme execution and contract closure.
You must be eligible and willing to gain BPSS and SC clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with peers from other disciplines and businesses and the Functional SLT.
- Creates, executes and manages various International or Domestic Contract types (Cost Type, Incentive Type, Firm Fixed, etc)
- Lead in the negotiation of contracts
- Develop and implements contracting strategies and negotiate associated Agreements.
- Provide full contractual and commercial support through development, approval and issuance of bids and proposals, whether in response to RFP/ITN or as part of the company strategy.
- Identify any commercial risk, provide input to the overall risk plan and implement effective risk mitigation.
- Manage new and existing contracts effectively, including all contract change control and support to the other functions, including contract flow-downs.
- Resolve all commercial issues promptly and effectively.
- Manage the financial aspects of the contract, including forecasting and milestone plans (including timely claim submission).
- Be the commercial face of the organisation to the customer, as the day to day contact and subject matter expert.
- Assure the successful completion, closedown and archive of contracts.
- Be the champion of change and improvement.
- Contribute to the creation of business capture strategies by recommending strategic choices to improve the organisation’s short- and long-term performance
- Actively promotes the contributions that the function can make to achieving corporate objectives across the organisation
- Executes to customer requirements including government regulations, public law and Raytheon policies and procedures.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in reviewing and drafting contractual documents
- Experience in providing commercial and contract support for bidding on defence opportunities
- Strong commercial awareness, business principles and governing law.
- Experience of commercial risk management.
- An ability to respond to tasks with tenacity and flexibility, whilst working cross functionally in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder with both internal and external customers.
- An ability to remain calm under pressure and collaborate with others.
- Positive, self-motivated and the ability to work independently.
- A willingness and ability to travel as required.

Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Accreditation in Commercial and Supply Chain management.
- Basic programme management skill set – Risk Management/Programme Gating/ Metrics.
- Strong record of problem solving and dispute resolution.
- Experience of working with international suppliers or customers.
- Experience of Financial Management.
- Familiarity with business process management tools (IPDS, SAP or similar) and the competitive bidding process.
