The role
The Principal Subsea Pipeline Engineer role is based in the UK within our Subsea and Pipelines team. We seek an experienced engineer who can work autonomously and delivers technical input on a contract basis.

In this position, the successful candidate will:
- Provide expert guidance on the design of subsea pipeline systems through all phases.
- Focus on designing subsea pipelines, risers, and tie-in spools for traditional oil and gas projects, as well as Energy Transition initiatives like CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage) and hydrogen projects.
- Collaborate closely with our global engineering centres.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialized technical input and management of subsea pipeline scopes.
- Perform mechanical design activities in pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design, Operating and Decommissioning phases.
- Contribute to the advancement of team technologies.
- Represent Genesis Energies at relevant meetings.
- Assist in creating bids and tenders.
- Produce and verify calculations.
- Author and review project deliverables.
Skills & Experience Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience in Oil & Gas or Energy Transition Subsea Engineering.
- Direct experience designing and analyzing subsea pipelines, tie-in spools, and risers.
- A minimum of a first degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline, with professional qualifications such as Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PEng). Alternative qualifications may also be acceptable for more senior candidates.
- Strong expertise in:
- Pipeline analysis (e.g., wall thickness, on-bottom stability, UHB, spanning, expansion, tie-in spool stress analysis, riser analysis).
- MathCad software.
- Reviewing isometrics, general arrangement, field layout, alignment sheets, and approach drawings.
- Fatigue principles knowledge.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Excellent writing for technical reports.
- Full command of the English language.
- Proficient computer skills, particularly in MS Office Suite.

Preferred:
- Familiarity with Abaqus for assessing pipelines and components.
- Experience with Python programming.
- Experience using FS2000.
- Involvement in study projects and contributions to FEEDs (Front-End Engineering Design) or option reviews.
- Knowledge of corrosion prevention (CP) and coating considerations.
- Background in preparing line pipe specifications and data sheets.
