About Evolito
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
Research and Technology Team
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are creating our Research and Technology (R&T) team and are looking for a Principal Technical Specialist - Applications to join us. The R&T team is responsible for the development of new systems, electric machines, and power control electronics in support of new and existing customers. This includes electric propulsion systems, electrical generation systems, and power management systems for all-electric and hybrid-electric aircraft.

- Acting as the first point of contact and technical decision maker for Evolito Research & Technology projects
- Leading new concept design activities, including internal technology projects or customer applications
- Working closely with Project Management Office, Business Development, and customers to ensure project and technical requirements are met
- Coordinating the activities of a cross-functional engineering team including mechanical and electrical design, software and controls, systems, and simulation
- Managing day-to-day technical delivery including specification, development, test, and manufacture of electric motor, controller, and software
- Effectively communicating technical and project progress, successes, and challenges to the wider business and customers
- Ownership of functional architecture and system requirements, development of system documentation
- Supporting resource estimation, planning, reporting, and risk management.
Skills and Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical domain
- Proven and demonstrable experience working in a position of cross-functional engineering leadership
- Familiarity with a wide range of mechatronic disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering
- Fundamental understanding of high voltage electrification and drive systems including electric drive/propulsion units, electric motors, controllers/inverters, gearboxes, and associated control
- Demonstrated track record of engineering ability in an electrical or mechanical discipline
- Instinctive problem-solving skills coupled with a sound analytical approach
- A'self-starter' attitude with energy and enthusiasm, with the ability to thrive in a small business environment
- Ability to work under pressure while managing conflicting demands against tight deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A flexible approach to work
- UK driving license and ability to travel.

Preferred
- Experience in the development of power electronics, electric motors, and controllers
- Experience developing hybrid systems and/or high voltage batteries
- Hands-on experience of data acquisition, calibration, and control using Vector or a similar toolset
- Willingness to support off-site test activities in the UK and abroad
- Experience of working within a Tier 1 environment
- Experience of working in the aerospace industry and an appreciation for the Type Certification process
