At Zimmer Biomet, we believe in pushing the boundaries of innovation and driving our mission forward. As a global medical technology leader for nearly 100 years, a patient’s mobility is enhanced by a Zimmer Biomet product or technology every 8 seconds.

As a Zimmer Biomet team member, you will share in our commitment to providing mobility and renewed life to people around the world. To support our talent team, we focus on development opportunities, robust employee resource groups (ERGs), a flexible working environment, location-specific competitive total rewards, wellness incentives, and a culture of recognition and performance awards. We are committed to creating an environment where every team member feels included, respected, empowered, and recognized.

What You Can Expect

As a Principal Test Engineer - AI, you would be a senior member of the Software Applications Development Team responsible for defining the quality strategy, validation approach, and test architecture for Zimmer Biomet’s mymobility product, including its AI-enabled software capabilities and intelligent features. This job provides technical leadership for testing intelligent software, data-driven workflows, and integrated platform components to help ensure the product is reliable, secure, and fit for global deployment.

You would be expected to bring strong technical judgment, a risk-based mindset, and deep software quality experience to evolving areas of AI-enabled product development. This role also helps shape automation strategy, mentors other test engineers, and influences engineering practices to improve testability, observability, and overall product quality across the software development lifecycle.

How You'll Create Impact

  • Lead and evolve the test strategy for the mymobility product, with particular focus on AI-enabled features, integrated workflows, and other high-risk product areas.
  • Define practical, risk-based validation approaches for AI-related functionality, including model-driven or data-driven features, supporting services, and end-to-end workflows.
  • Partner with software engineering, data science, product, quality, and other cross-functional teams to improve test coverage, investigate defects, and support high-quality global releases.
  • Drive the continued development of automation, regression, integration, and data validation practices that support efficient and scalable quality engineering.
  • Contribute to validation documentation, defect analysis, metrics, and release readiness activities in support of product quality, compliance expectations, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers while helping strengthen quality practices across the broader development organisation.
  • Stay current with emerging approaches, tools, and industry practices relevant to AI/ML quality engineering, and drive adoption of appropriate methods where they improve effectiveness or assurance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
