Principal Traffic Management Designer

We're looking for a Principal Traffic Management Designer to join our team based in various locations. Kier Design are a highly regarded Tier 1 Contractor, with a 750 plus strong design consultancy team, recognised as a Top 30 employer on Glassdoor.

Join us as a Principal Traffic Management Designer and become part of one of the UK's leaders in temporary works design and management and construction-related technical services. As part of our team of temporary traffic management designers, you'll get to work on hundreds of projects across one of the most diverse and high-profile portfolios in the country, with access to Kier's £11bn+ project pipeline – supporting complex construction and major infrastructure schemes from concept through to delivery.

Location: Nationwide

Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Are you…

  • An incorporated member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEng MICE) with relevant experience, or have significant relevant experience
  • Collaborative, enjoying working closely with clients and stakeholders to reach innovative solutions
  • Trusted, delivering what you promise whilst acting safely and ethically
  • Focused, with a clear and disciplined approach to how you work and deliver
  • In possession of a Full driving licence (preferred)

What will you be responsible for?

As a Principal Traffic Management Designer, you'll be working within the construction engineering team, supporting them in delivering engineering excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of construction engineering services, contributing to complex projects and providing solutions which are safe and buildable. As a Principal Traffic Management Designer, you'll work closely with colleagues and clients to develop innovative approaches to temporary traffic management, from design and checking through to technical assessment and support. This role offers the chance to make a real impact, drawing on your expertise to enhance our competitive position, support project teams, and act as a centre of engineering excellence. You'll enjoy collaborative working, building effective relationships and helping to shape the future of our design consultancy.

Your Day To Day Will Include

  • Checking and approval of Temporary Traffic Management plans for low-speed and high-speed designs
  • Design and checking of low and high speed TTM designs
  • Leading the development of fee proposals and managing project workload within the design team
  • Providing technical help desk support, offering engineering expertise and advice to project teams
  • Conducting site visits, surveys and inspections, reporting on SHE issues and attending meetings on behalf of Kier
