Role Overview

They are seeking a highly skilled Principal Transition Lead to deliver critical services across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in both winning and delivering major public sector contracts, leading high-profile mobilisation and transition programmes from bid through to operational delivery.

This role combines strategic business growth, programme leadership, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. You will work at the heart of major contract pursuits and complex transformation projects, helping shape winning solutions while ensuring successful delivery outcomes.

Following contract award, you will take ownership of programme delivery, ensuring successful implementation, stakeholder confidence, governance, financial control, and achievement of programme outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Bid Leadership

  • Lead the development of mobilisation, transition and exit strategies for major bids and contract retention opportunities.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer objectives, operational requirements, and transition risks.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers, suppliers, and strategic partners throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Produce high-quality mobilisation plans, programme schedules, cost models, governance frameworks, and risk management strategies.
  • Contribute to winning propositions by demonstrating delivery capability as a key differentiator.

Programme Delivery

  • Lead complex mobilisation and transition programmes from contract award through to successful implementation.
  • Create a high-performing programme environment focused on delivery excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams across people, process, technology, and data workstreams.
  • Establish and maintain effective programme governance, controls, reporting, and assurance frameworks.
  • Manage financial performance, programme risks, issues, dependencies, and resource requirements.

About You

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience leading large-scale mobilisation, transition, transformation, or business change programmes.
  • Extensive experience supporting major bids, tenders, or procurement exercises through programme definition and planning.
  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and public sector contracting environments.
  • Experience leading programmes across multiple workstreams including people, process, technology, and data.
  • Demonstrable success managing stakeholders at executive and customer level.
  • Experience establishing programme governance, controls, reporting structures, and risk management frameworks.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience developing programme cost models and delivery plans.
  • Ability to drive clarity in complex or ambiguous environments.
  • Experience managing competing priorities within fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
