Principal Transport Planner / Associate – London

About the Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Principal Transport Planner or Associate to join a growing transport planning team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner looking to take the next step in their career, with the chance to work on a diverse range of major development projects across London and the wider UK.

You will take responsibility for delivering projects, providing high-quality technical advice to clients and supporting the development of junior team members, whilst working closely with senior colleagues on some of the company's key projects.

The Role

As a Principal Transport Planner / Associate, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of transport planning projects from inception through to completion.
  • Prepare and oversee Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and other technical reports.
  • Provide transport planning and development advice to clients, developers and other stakeholders.
  • Manage projects, programmes and technical deliverables.
  • Undertake and oversee transport, traffic and accessibility assessments.
  • Liaise with TfL, London boroughs, local authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Attend client and stakeholder meetings and confidently present technical advice and recommendations.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams, including planners, engineers, architects and developers.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and technical support to graduate and junior members of the team.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, bids and tenders where appropriate.
  • Support the development of existing client relationships and identify opportunities for further work.
  • Play an active role in the continued growth and development of the transport planning team.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced transport planning professional who is technically strong, commercially aware and keen to take on greater responsibility. You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant experience within a transport planning consultancy.
  • A relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience delivering Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Experience working on development schemes within London.
  • A good understanding of London transport policy, planning processes and relevant guidance.
  • Experience engaging with TfL and London boroughs would be advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage projects and work effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, or working towards professional accreditation, would be advantageous.
