Principal Transport Planning Consultant

Godalming

GBP45,000 - GBP55,000

A growing and well-established multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint a Principal Transport Planning Consultant to join its expanding Transport Planning team in Godalming.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to take a leading technical role within a growing consultancy, working on a diverse portfolio of development planning projects across the residential, commercial, education, healthcare, industrial and mixed-use sectors throughout the UK.

The Role

  • Lead and manage a varied portfolio of development planning projects across the UK
  • Prepare, review and oversee Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Technical Notes and Access Appraisals
  • Undertake and review junction capacity assessments using Junctions 11, PICADY, ARCADY and LinSig
  • Provide technical advice to clients from initial feasibility through to planning determination and post-consent support
  • Liaise with Local Planning Authorities, Highway Authorities, statutory consultees and multidisciplinary project teams
  • Mentor and support Graduate and Consultant-level Transport Planners
  • Undertake technical reviews and maintain high standards across project delivery
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current national and local transport planning policy and guidance
  • Contribute to fee proposals, project scopes and business development activities

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of 5 years experience within UK development planning transport consultancy
  • Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK transport planning policy, standards and guidance
  • Demonstrable experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans
  • Proficient in Junctions 11 and LinSig junction modelling software
  • Excellent report writing, analytical and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Confident engaging with clients, local authorities and wider project teams
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Actively working towards professional chartership with a recognised institution, ideally through the CIHT CTPP route

Desirable Skills And Experience

  • Experience using GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS
  • Experience with TRICS and TEMPro
  • Previous experience mentoring junior colleagues and undertaking technical report reviews
  • Experience contributing to business development, client relationship management and work-winning
