Principal UX Designer

London/Remote
Full Time
Competitive Salary and Benefits

Are you an entrepreneurial Principal UX Designer who also understands how a business's books work? Who thrives creating something from zero, not just refining something that already exists?

We're looking for a Principal Product Designer to lead a strategically important product area from its earliest stages. This is a hands-on, senior role with significant autonomy, working closely with Product, Engineering and others in the business to shape the product, and turn ambitious ideas into great customer experience outcomes.

This is a genuine 0-to-1 opportunity: you'll work with customers, product managers and engineers to understand important problems, explore new possibilities, and build experiences that make complex financial work feel much simpler, delivering real value.

What will you be doing?

  • Own the end-to-end design of a meaningful product area, from problem discovery through adoption
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers and their underlying needs
  • Identify and frame the problems worth solving, not just the ones you're handed
  • Shape product direction with Product and Engineering as an equal voice
  • Turn ideas into prototypes and testable experiences quickly
  • Work directly with customers throughout discovery and delivery
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence to guide your design decisions
  • Launch, measure and improve what you build
  • Make thoughtful design trade-offs in an ambiguous environment, and change direction when the evidence changes
  • Take responsibility for outcomes rather than simply shipping deliverables

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

How you work

You're likely to enjoy this role if you start with the customer, prefer learning through testing over debating hypotheticals, have strong opinions but low ego, and see AI and technology as opportunities to explore rather than constraints to accept.

It would be great if you also have

  • A good understanding of the accounting process and general ledger from the inside, not just in theory. That means either you're a qualified accountant (ACCA, ICAEW, ATT, AAT or equivalent) with hands-on practice or industry experience, or you're an entrepreneur who has run your own company's books yourself, reconciling the bank, filing VAT returns, keeping the general ledger straight and knows what good bookkeeping looks like.
