Creative Assembly / SEGA is recruiting for the role of Principal VFX Artist. Creative Assembly is looking for an experienced Principal VFX Artist to help define the VFX quality bar, mentor the team, and deliver high-quality, performant visuals on Total War projects. The role also involves working with core technology groups on proprietary tools and pipelines.

What you’ll do

  • Help define the VFX quality bar for Total War products.
  • Mentor the VFX team and support its development.
  • Work with core technology groups on proprietary tools and pipelines.
  • Deliver high-quality, performant visuals across projects.
  • Inspire and guide the VFX team to create high-quality, performant visuals.
  • Scope VFX work around player value, gameplay needs, and franchise priorities.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors and Leads to establish VFX style guides.
  • Work with cross-discipline teams to build and maintain efficient pipelines.

  • You should have excellent visual awareness and artistic ability.
  • You should have 5+ years in game development and 3+ shipped titles.
  • You need experience mentoring artists and supporting career development.

  • You need awareness of industry technology trends and understanding of game development processes.
  • You need knowledge of image manipulation tools, 3D software, particle systems, particle editors, and contemporary shader features and workflows.
