Lucion Delta-Simons is looking for an experienced and commercially minded Principal / Associate Environmental Due Diligence Consultant to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an environmental professional who wants to take their career to the next level, combining technical expertise, client leadership, project management and business development.

You’ll work with a diverse range of clients across property, infrastructure, investment and development, helping them understand environmental risks and opportunities associated with acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and development.

You’ll be part of a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, working alongside specialists across environmental, sustainability and technical disciplines.

🌍 The opportunity

As a Principal / Associate, you’ll take a leading role in delivering high-quality environmental due diligence for clients and supporting the continued growth of the service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing environmental due diligence projects for property, corporate and investment transactions.
  • Undertaking and reviewing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and environmental due diligence reports.
  • Identifying and evaluating potential environmental liabilities, risks and opportunities associated with property and business transactions.
  • Reviewing historical land use, environmental databases, planning information, regulatory records and other relevant technical information.
  • Assessing issues including contaminated land, pollution, waste, environmental permits, water, flooding, ecology and other environmental constraints, as relevant to transactions.
  • Providing clear, commercially focused advice to clients, helping them understand potential risks and their implications for investment decisions.
  • Managing project programmes, budgets, deliverables and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Reviewing technical reports and ensuring a consistently high standard of work.
  • Working directly with investors, developers, lenders, asset managers, legal advisers and other professional stakeholders.
  • Preparing proposals, tenders and fee estimates.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Identifying opportunities to generate new business and supporting the growth of our environmental due diligence service.
  • Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level consultants.
  • Contributing to the continued development of our technical methodologies, services and market offering.

🔎 About you

We’re looking for an experienced environmental consultant who can combine strong technical judgement with commercial awareness and excellent client-management skills.

You’ll ideally have:

  • A relevant degree in environmental science, environmental management, geology, hydrogeology, contaminated land or a related discipline.
  • Significant professional experience in environmental due diligence, contaminated land or environmental consultancy.
  • Strong experience delivering environmental due diligence assessments and reports.
  • A good understanding of UK environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience identifying and evaluating environmental risks and liabilities in relation to property or corporate transactions.
  • Excellent report-writing and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate complex environmental issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong project management and client-management skills.
  • Experience working with professional advisers, investors, developers, lenders and other transaction stakeholders.
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to proposals, tenders and business development.
  • The confidence to take ownership of projects and build trusted client relationships.
  • Experience mentoring and supporting the development of junior colleagues.

For Associate level, experience in leading client relationships, developing business and supporting team growth would be advantageous.

For Principal level, we’d particularly welcome candidates with a strong track record of technical leadership, client development, project delivery and mentoring.
