Associate Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Croydon, South London

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days per week in the office

Sector: Building Services / MEP

Projects: Residential, Hotels, Offices, Commercial & Industrial

The Role

We are working with an established and growing building services consultancy who are looking to appoint an Associate Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Croydon.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, with the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects across multiple sectors.

You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to detailed design, coordination, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver mechanical building services designs across a range of projects.
  • Produce and review mechanical design calculations, specifications, and drawings.
  • Work closely with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of the wider team.
  • Attend design and client meetings and represent the company professionally.
  • Assist with project management, technical delivery, and client relationships.
  • Ensure designs meet relevant UK standards, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to completion.

About You

We are looking for someone with a strong background in Mechanical Building Services Design, ideally with consultancy experience and a proven track record of delivering projects.

You should have:

  • Strong mechanical design experience within the built environment.
  • Experience working across multiple project sectors.
  • Good knowledge of UK building services standards and regulations.
  • Experience using relevant design software, ideally including AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • The ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of projects.
  • Experience supporting or mentoring junior engineers.
  • A desire to progress towards a more senior/leadership position.
