Principal/Senior Engineer – Join our expert consultancy team
Motion helps clients successfully plan and deliver development schemes by providing expert consultancy advice and support in transport planning and infrastructure design. Working across both public and private sectors throughout the UK, we bring together key stakeholders to find practical and effective solutions to complex challenges.
About the role
We are looking for a Principal/Senior Engineer to join our team and contribute to the successful delivery of development schemes. Based in Guildford, this is a hybrid role, allowing for some remote work alongside office-based collaboration. You will play a key role in project planning and execution, applying your technical expertise to deliver high-quality solutions.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the design and delivery of development-focused engineering projects.
- Conducting Flood Risk Assessments and developing Drainage Strategies.
- Applying AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage, and other engineering software to design and analyse infrastructure solutions.
- Managing projects efficiently, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Collaborating with colleagues and external stakeholders to develop innovative, practical solutions.
- Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to clients, planning authorities, and other key parties.

What we’re looking for
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Strong engineering and project management skills.
- Proven experience in flood risk assessments and drainage strategy development.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
