Principle AI Engineer

Location: UK Wide (Hybrid)

Salary: 100k+

We're working with an innovative organisation that's redefining how people learn through AI. They are building next-generation AI products that deliver personalised, real-time learning experiences at scale and are looking for a Principal AI Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their AI platform.

This is not an infrastructure or MLOps-focused role. They're looking for experienced AI builders who have designed, developed and shipped AI products in commercial environments and are passionate about solving complex problems with cutting-edge technologies.

The Opportunity

As a Principal AI Engineer, you'll work on the core AI systems that power adaptive and intelligent user experiences. You'll have the opportunity to build sophisticated LLM-based applications, experiment with emerging AI capabilities and contribute to products that have a genuine impact on end users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and evolve complex AI systems using Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt architectures and agentic workflows.
  • Develop real-time, adaptive AI capabilities that deliver personalised and intelligent user experiences.
  • Create custom evaluation frameworks and metrics to measure model performance, reliability and product effectiveness.
  • Design scalable, maintainable software solutions using Python and modern cloud technologies.
  • Integrate AI capabilities across platform systems, content pipelines and user-facing products.
  • Prototype and productionise novel AI interactions by leveraging the latest developments in AI research.
  • Implement testing, monitoring and guardrails to ensure quality, safety and observability across AI systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate customer and business requirements into impactful AI products.
  • Mentor others and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
