Your new role

As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will join a multidisciplinary design team based in Bristol, taking a lead role in the delivery of building services projects from initial concept through to post-completion evaluation.

You will be responsible for producing detailed mechanical building services designs, including calculations, technical analysis, schematics, specifications, equipment schedules, and technical documentation. You will represent the business at client, contractor, and design team meetings, building strong professional relationships and acting as a trusted technical advisor throughout the project lifecycle.

In addition to project delivery, you will support business development activities, mentor and share knowledge with colleagues, contribute to project reviews, and help drive the continued growth and success of the business.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering institution, or be on track to achieve Chartership within the next 12 months
  • Significant experience designing mechanical building services systems within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of low-carbon and sustainable design principles.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage complex engineering design programmes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong commercial awareness and project delivery experience.
  • Eligibility to work within the UK and excellent written and spoken English.

Experience within sectors such as residential, commercial, education, leisure, secure environments, or critical systems would be advantageous, as would exposure to client management, business development, and tender submissions. Experience with industry-standard software such as IES Virtual Environment, Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, SketchUp, Amtech ProDesign, and Microsoft Project would also be beneficial.
