FJA are recruiting on behalf of a leading service provider in the water sector for an experienced Principal / Lead Process Engineer to strengthen their engineering team at their Peterborough office, supporting the Anglian Water region, with hybrid working available.

Principal / Lead Process Engineer Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and engineering leadership to process engineers across water and wastewater non-infrastructure projects.
- Report directly to the Head of Engineering and provide technical support across a range of non-infrastructure schemes.
- Work collaboratively with project design teams to develop appropriate and cost-effective process solutions.
- Ensure process designs are fit for purpose and comply with current legislation, standards, and engineering requirements.
- Undertake process design for wastewater treatment solutions and sewerage systems, ensuring projects meet customer, environmental, and efficiency objectives.
- Produce key technical deliverables, including technical schedules, data sheets, engineering calculations, and particular specifications.
- Undertake hydraulic calculations, pump calculations, mass balance calculations, RICS calculations, and other relevant process engineering assessments.
- Develop and review process calculations, hydraulics, unit processes, pump calculations, capacity calculations, and technical data sheets.
- Work closely with the supply chain and undertake technical bid analysis of third-party process equipment and proposed designs.
- Oversee key process engineering outputs and ensure technical deliverables are accurate, robust, and delivered to the required standards.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to ensure technical excellence is understood and consistently implemented.
- Identify and escalate issues that could impact time, cost, or quality before they become significant problems.
- Support the drive towards excellence in health and safety by producing safe and compliant designs in accordance with CDM Regulations, relevant standards, and accepted codes of practice.
- Maintain strong working relationships with other engineering disciplines to ensure effective interfaces, manage gaps and overlaps, and share best practice.
- Promote the use of standard designs and engineering standards to optimise plant performance and improve project delivery.
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and support to process engineers and wider project teams.

Principal / Lead Process Engineer Requirements
- Degree qualified in Wastewater Process Science, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in process engineering within the wastewater sector.
- Experience delivering process engineering solutions on large-scale water or wastewater projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and sewerage systems.
- Experience producing and reviewing process calculations, hydraulic calculations, mass balances, pump calculations, and capacity assessments.
- Experience developing technical schedules, data sheets, and engineering specifications.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation, engineering standards, and CDM requirements.
- Experience reviewing third-party designs and undertaking technical bid analysis of process equipment.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Ability to provide technical direction and support to engineers and multi-disciplinary project teams.
- Strong IT skills and the ability to use relevant engineering and design software.
- A collaborative approach, with the ability to build effective relationships across engineering disciplines and project stakeholders.
- Strong commitment to health and safety, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Desirable
- Experience working on large-scale water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Experience within non-infrastructure water or wastewater schemes.
- Experience working within framework, alliance, or collaborative delivery environments.
- Knowledge of standardised engineering design approaches and optimisation of plant performance.
- Experience working with supply chain partners and reviewing process equipment proposals.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards Chartership.
