Print Assistant

Location: Barwell
Position type: Full time Permanent
Working Hours:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 06.00-18.00
  • Week 2: Thursday, Friday & Saturday 06.00-18.00

We pride ourselves on quality, efficiency, ethics, innovation, and maintaining a low environmental impact. The company has an opportunity for an Print Assistant at our site in Barwell.

Role Overview

The Print Assistant is responsible for supporting the operation of flexographic printing presses, assisting in the efficient production of high-quality printed products that meet customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.

Working closely with the Printer, the role involves preparing materials, maintaining equipment and work areas, handling raw materials and finished goods, and ensuring the smooth flow of production processes. The Print Assistant plays a key role in maintaining a safe, organised, and clean working environment while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe working practices at all times.
  • Support the Printer in the efficient operation and set-up of flexographic printing presses.
  • Prepare and organise raw materials, inks, consumables, and tooling required for production runs.
  • Ensure materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods are correctly identified, stored, and available for subsequent processes.
  • Assist with machine changeovers, cleaning, and routine maintenance activities to minimise downtime.
  • Monitor print quality and support corrective actions to ensure customer specifications and quality standards are consistently achieved.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation in line with 5S and continuous improvement principles.
  • Assist in reducing waste and improving production efficiency through effective working practices.
  • Follow all Hygiene, Quality, and BRC requirements, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Support effective shift handovers by communicating production status, quality concerns, and operational issues.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and system records as required.
  • Report equipment faults, safety concerns, quality issues, or material shortages promptly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across production to ensure operational targets and customer requirements are met.
  • Take responsibility for the appropriate care and use of equipment, tools, and company resources.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, production, or printing environment.
  • Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements within a production setting.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to complete production records accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills.
