Gaada is an artist-led visual arts organisation based in Shetland, supporting artists and communities through studio facilities, workshops, exhibitions, publishing and collaborative projects.
We are seeking a Print Workshop Manager
We are seeking a Print Workshop Manager to lead the operation and development of our print workshop at the Toogs Artist Workshop. We want a practical printmaker who enjoys supporting others and can help increase the workshop’s reach, accessibility and earned income.
The post-holder will join a functioning workshop with established maintenance and booking systems, public workshops and open-access sessions. They will manage and develop this provision, keeping the workshop safe, organised, welcoming and financially sustainable.

- Coordinating workshop use and maintaining a safe, accessible environment
- Maintaining equipment, managing materials and stock, and keeping records
- Delivering and developing public workshops, inductions and open-access sessions
- Supporting members, visiting artists and other users to work independently
- Responding to different access and support needs
- Increasing earned income through viable workshops and open-access opportunities
- Monitoring participation, workshop use and income
- Improving facilities, equipment and working processes
- Advising on workshop requirements during Gaada’s capital redevelopment planning
- Collaborating with colleagues on programming, evaluation and reporting
The role requires strong practical experience in screenprinting, letterpress and Risograph. Experience of relief printing and laser engraving is desirable. Etching is supported separately and is not a core responsibility of the post.

Applicants need professional printmaking and studio management or support experience. They should be confident delivering workshops to people with varied experience, balancing practical, administrative and income-generating duties, and working independently and collaboratively. Commitment to access, inclusion and supportive learning is essential. Equivalent professional experience is accepted in place of a degree. The appointment point within the salary band will reflect relevant experience and demonstrated competence.
