The Vacancy

Are you an experienced Printer or Printer Assistant looking for your next challenge? Do you want to work with the market leader in banknote production?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Printer No.2 to join our team at our site in Loughton, Essex. Reporting to the Print Process Lead, you will be required to support operations and ensure machine outputs on print processes (Optinota, Letterpress or cover purposes only) and overall responsibilities for the running and operation of the Varnish process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximise machine efficiency to produce consistently high output within specifications and quality standards.
  • First line problem solving on the machine, identifying technical problems and providing solutions.
  • Control and monitor associated paperwork and computer records to provide accurate documentation.
  • Liaise with QC to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Complete make-readies effectively and expediently whilst achieving an approved pass sheet.
  • Continuously monitoring the quality of the product.
  • Report, immediately any machine malfunctions to the Print Supervisor.
  • Ensure a shift changeover occurs and the correct information is communicated concerning the handing over of the machine and quality of work.

Working hours

24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift

Basic Salary

£51,558 per annum on 24/5 shift pattern. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £52,413 per annum.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Print machine experience
  • Ability to demonstrate accountability working within a target driven environment
  • Good eyesight with the ability to distinguish between colours
  • Ability to demonstrate clear communication & interpersonal skills
  • Basic literacy & numeracy skills
  • Exposure to using computerised systems i.e. SAGE would be an advantage
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to problem solve
