G4S Care and Rehabilitation Services

HMP Parc, Bridgend, CF35 6AP

Salary: £29,341.81 per annum

Position Type: Permanent, Full Time (40 hours per week)

Benefits: Company Pension, free on-site parking, on-site canteen, ongoing training and development, and access to High Street Shop discounts.

About the Role

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect, and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care. HMP & YOI Parc accommodates 1800 convicted male adult prisoners and remand/convicted young offenders and young people in a secure but modern environment.

Opportunity

We now have an opportunity for a Prison Offender Manager to join our team at HMP Parc. This is a key role in the rehabilitation and risk management of prisoners in custody. As a Prison Offender Manager, you will work within the Offender Management Unit supporting people in prison progress through their sentence. This will include understanding, assessing, and managing risk. You will be key in coordinating the prisoner’s sentence, collaborating with all departments, and external partners, to ensure that prisoners access the rehabilitative opportunities they need in custody, and facilitating engagement with key resettlement services in readiness for release. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of prisoner groups, and develop your knowledge, understanding, and competency considerably in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of prisoners.
  • Support prisoners at various stages of their sentence and work closely with internal and external agencies.
  • Receive comprehensive training in assessing and managing risk, and complete the relevant assessments for prisoners.
  • Interview prisoners, discussing areas of their life such as accommodation, relationships, education/employment, and lifestyles, encouraging prisoners to engage with any offending behaviour work and challenging any negative behaviour/views where appropriate.
  • Assess and refer prisoners to appropriate interventions (offending behaviour programmes) within the establishment to reduce their risk of reoffending.
  • Ensure risk information is communicated with other areas of the establishment such as wing managers, Dyfodol, Interventions, healthcare, and the family services.
  • Carry out reviews to assess reduction in risk and complete reports as appropriate for re-categorisation boards.
  • Risk assess prisoners for employment boards.
  • Work closely with Community Offender Managers to support pre-release planning and risk management.
  • Respond to prisoner queries.
  • Participate in the parole review process, providing information for Parole assessments, attending Parole hearings, and giving evidence on prisoners conduct in custody.
  • Liaise with the OCA department to allocate offenders for whom HMP/YOI Parc cannot meet offending behaviour needs. This may also require liaising with other HMPS establishments to gain a placement for your prisoner in another establishment.
  • Act in accordance with security and operational instructions at all times to ensure the maintenance of security within the secure environment.
  • Take a multi-disciplinary approach to risk management by liaising with external agencies such as Probation, Police, Social Service, and MAPPA.
  • Be responsible for personal development by undertaking relevant training, including completion of the HMPPS POM workbook. You may be expected to travel for training.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
