The Role
Serco is recruiting Prison Officers at HMP Fosse Way, Leicester. Here, your work will directly impact reoffending rates and support rehabilitation programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise prisoners in all prison activities (wing operations, work/education programs).
- Oversee security protocols (headcounts, cell searches, administrative duties).
- Assist at-risk individuals (managing self-harm risks).
- Contribute to positive prisoner behaviour and rehabilitative goals.

Recruitment & Training Process
- Online assessment to evaluate role suitability.
- Virtual interview (competency-based + English assessment).
- Prison familiarisation day (briefing, group session, mobility assessment).
- 10-week Initial Training Program (ITC) at HMP Fosse Way (100% attendance required):
- 8 weeks of classroom learning
- 2 weeks hands-on shadowing
- Qualification in Custodial Care Diploma
- Training in First Aid & Control/Restraint

- Location: HMP Fosse Way, Leicester (nearby public transport is limited—ideal commute within 30 miles recommended).
- Security Clearance: All applicants require Satisfactory reoffending checks, at least 5 years’ employment/education history disclosure and security vetting.

- UK nationals / passport holders must prove eligibility.
- Visa-holders must have a minimum two years remaining on their visa and one year of residence in the UK (for professional reference support).
- Visa eligibility: Currently excluded via the Skilled Worker visa route.
