Prison Support Officer – HMP Fosse Way
£26,510 per annum | 40 hours per week
About HMP Fosse Way
HMP Fosse Way is a Category C rehabilitation prison in Leicestershire, housing 1,715 prisoners. The focus is on offender rehabilitation and successful reintegration into society.
The Opportunity
Part of the Operational Support team, this role forms the backbone of the prison’s functionality—whether it’s managing security gates, processing prisoner visits, escorting individuals, or supporting wide-ranging administrative duties. Here, every contribution builds a supportive work culture and delivers measurable impact daily.

Key Responsibilities
- No formal experience required—entry made possible through rigorous training and mentorship.
- Financial administration, communication support and report writing as a core function.
- Experience in vehicle-related work, outdoor environments, or roles requiring regular physical movement/walking is valued (e.g., logistics, transport, postal work, outdoor operations).

What’s Required
- Communication & numeracy skills: Report writing, basic numerical proficiency.
- Relevant experience (not mandatory): Areas like vehicle inspection, transport logistics, outdoor-based jobs, or roles demanding mobility/physical activity.

Security Clearance & Vetting
- Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
- Requires Ministry of Justice Enhanced Level 2 Vetting—mandatory checks and Home Office approval.
