Prison Support Officer
Location
HMP Dovegate, Uttoxeter 40 hours per week
Salary & Benefits
Starting salary: £25,889 per annum Rising to £26,203 after one year’s service

About HMP Dovegate
HMP Dovegate is a Category B male prisoner facility based near Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.
The Operational Support Team is at the heart of our prison environment. Whether you're tasked with security gate operations, prisoner/visitor management, transport, or administrative & communication work, this role is about contributing to something greater—a collaborative work culture where your work makes a tangible difference daily.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting various prisoner operations, including:
- Escorting prisoners, staff, and contractors
- Security gate and prison visits
- Strong communication skills are essential for report writing and numerical tasks
- Suitable for candidates with experience in:
- Vehicle/transport sectors (inspection, logistics, motor transport, recovery)
- Outdoor or physically active roles
- Consistent walking/uploading jobs (e.g., parcel sorting, deliveries)
- Regular physical work (often standing, moving, use of outdoor environments)
Requirements
- Strong communication skills
- At least a good educational level in English and Mathematics (report writing and numeric abilities required)
- Flexibility to accommodate rota shift patterns (previous outdoor/active roles are advantageous)
- Willingness and approval for:
- Home Office Enhanced Level 2 Vetting
- Security clearance checks as part of the Rehabilitation process
