Private Client Case Handler

South Shields or Gosforth | Up to £50,000 | Hybrid opportunities available | Permanent

We’re looking for an experienced and client-focused Private Client Case Handler to join the growing legal team at Sort Group.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Private Client professional to manage their own caseload of matters while delivering exceptional service to clients during some of life’s most important decisions. You'll work with a variety of Private Client matters, providing expert guidance and support while ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.

Whether you are an experienced Case Handler, Fee Earner, Paralegal, Legal Executive, or qualified Solicitor specialising in Private Client work, this role offers the opportunity to join a supportive and ambitious organisation with genuine opportunities for progression.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing a varied caseload of Private Client matters from instruction through to conclusion
  • Preparing and advising on Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and estate administration matters
  • Assisting clients with Probate and the administration of estates
  • Liaising with clients, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and third parties
  • Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and client reports
  • Ensuring matters are progressed efficiently and in accordance with agreed service standards
  • Maintaining accurate records and updating the Case Management System
  • Delivering excellent levels of client care and communication throughout each matter
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory, AML, GDPR, and internal procedural requirements
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing positively to the wider Private Client team

Requirements

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience handling Private Client matters, including Wills, Probate, and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Ability to manage a caseload with an appropriate level of supervision
  • Excellent client care and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing deadlines effectively
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Case Management Systems
  • Strong understanding of compliance, confidentiality, AML regulations, and data protection requirements
  • A professional, empathetic, and approachable manner
  • A desire to continue developing within a Private Client environment

Qualifications such as CILEX, STEP, Solicitor qualification, or equivalent experience would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from experienced Private Client professionals at a variety of levels.

This role can be based from any of our offices in South Shields or Gosforth, working as part of a collaborative legal team within a growing and innovative legal services group.

Hybrid working opportunities may be available depending on experience and business requirements.

Salary:

  • Up to £50,000, depending on experience
  • Ongoing training, development, and progression opportunities
